Job Description

We are looking for a senior engineer to help us in translating the open-source ACES transforms and color processing algorithms into a high-performance, production-ready implementation while maintaining into C++/Halide code with strict color accuracy and compliance with ACES specifications.

This is a part-time role with some meetings in Pacific Time as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and understand the ACES 1.3 reference implementation and CTL (Color Transformation Language) code
• Implement core ACES transforms, including RRT (Reference Rendering Transform) and ODT (Output Device Transform) in C++/Halide
• Convert ACES color space conversions, tone mapping, and gamut mapping algorithms to Halide
• Create efficient Halide scheduling strategies optimized for color processing workflows
• Validate output accuracy against ACES reference implementation using standard test images
• Implement comprehensive unit tests covering edge cases and color accuracy requirements
• Optimize memory usage and data flow patterns for real-time color grading applications
• Document implementation with clear explanations of color science principles and algorithmic choices

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in C++ development with focus on image processing or computer graphics
• Strong experience with Halide framework, particularly for image processing pipelines
• Solid understanding of color science principles, color spaces, and color management
• Familiarity with ACES workflow and color grading concepts
• Experience with floating-point precision considerations in color processing
• Knowledge of tone mapping, gamut mapping, and color transformation algorithms
• Understanding of HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging concepts
• Experience with algorithm translation and numerical optimization
