The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) is currently recruiting for a Special Investigator in the Enforcement Division’s Statewide Investigative Fraud Team unit.
This position is located in San Francisco .
Under the general direction of the Supervising Special Investigator I (Non-Peace Officer) [SSI I], the Special Investigator (SI) is assigned to the Joint Enforcement Strike Force (JESF) and may be assigned to the Labor Enforcement Task Force (LETF) and functions independently to perform a wide variety of tasks focusing on proactive enforcement of laws relating to unlicensed activity and fraudulent activity by licensed contractors.

The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to act independently with flexibility and tact; willingness to work odd and irregular hours; good memory for names, faces, and incidents; willingness to travel. The incumbent is required to travel throughout an assigned geographical area, by various methods of transportation, and may travel outside of an assigned geographical area, involving trips of up to several hundred miles from the assigned office, and overnight stays, up to several days.
The incumbent must also possess a valid driver license, a good driving record, and is expected to drive vehicles safely. The incumbent shall participate in the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN), which is a process for providing the Department with a report showing the driver’s current public record as recorded by the DMV, and any subsequent convictions, failures to appear, accidents, driver’s license suspensions, driver’s license revocations, or any other actions taken against the driving privilege or license, added to the driver’s DMV record.
