Qualifications:

Education:

  • The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in civil engineering principles (demonstrated by a Bachelor's degree). An advanced degree or specialized certifications in construction/project management are a plus.



Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in construction preferably working for a general contractor.
  • Blueprint Reading: The ability to accurately interpret architectural plans and technical drawings is required.
  • Software Proficiency: Microsoft suites (emphasis on excel), CAD and REVU/Bluebeam is a plus.
  • Construction Knowledge: A strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and industry practices is required.
  • Math Skills: Estimators need exceptional quantitative and analytical skills to calculate costs and assess project viability.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to collaborate with teams and present findings.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and meticulousness are paramount for precise estimations.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines is critical.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential for navigating complex estimates.

Job Description:

The Lallas Shading Solutions Estimator plays a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, proactively managing bid opportunities from inception to submission. This involves leveraging proprietary software, Revu/Bluebeam, and CAD to meticulously analyze and select projects aligning with LSS standards. Applying their engineering expertise, the Estimator will generate required drawings, perform precise quantity take-offs, gather pricing data, and compile comprehensive bid packages. Strong collaboration with LSS colleagues and General Contractors is essential throughout the bidding process. The Estimator will cultivate client relationships, both existing and new, to enhance bid success and uphold LSS's reputation and values.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and analyze bid documents to ascertain project scope and specifications.
  • Utilize industry-standard software, including proprietary ERM, Revu/Bluebeam, and CAD platforms.
  • Evaluate construction drawings and specifications to precisely define project scope, dimensions, types, and locations.
  • Source and procure quotes from vendors and manufacturers.
  • Develop comprehensive Bid Packages.
  • Collaborate with the LSS team to strategize and secure project awards.
  • Facilitate communication with project managers to obtain project awards.
  • Actively explore and propose technological enhancements to improve company operations and efficiency.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Full Time: Monday thru Friday 8am - 5pm
  • Hybrid: Hardware and Software requirements will be at company expense
  • Office location: 180 North Wabash Chicago, Ill
  • Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 based on experience
  • Benefits: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Health Insurance, Vision Insurance and Dental insurance
