Job Description

The Enrollment and Outreach Specialist leads SR1’s strategic efforts to expand and sustain student and family engagement across its educational programs, including the SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy (SR1 CPSA) and SR1 C.O.O.L.™ Zone community-based initiatives. This leader is responsible for designing and executing enrollment strategies, managing outreach operations, and fostering community partnerships to ensure equitable access to SR1’s transformative opportunities.

The role requires a forward-thinking communicator who embraces culturally responsive practices, values global awareness, and utilizes data-driven tools to scale impact. The Specialist must also be proficient in learning and using digital platforms and building CRM systems to streamline family communication and optimize engagement across SR1’s service areas.

Key Responsibilities

Enrollment Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the design and implementation of enrollment plans for SR1 CPSA (PreK–12) and C.O.O.L.™ Zone programs (after-school, summer, and dual-generation learning).
  • Set and achieve enrollment growth goals, with a focus on reaching and empowering historically underserved communities.
  • Develop and manage efficient enrollment systems from inquiry to onboarding, ensuring transparency and responsiveness.

Community Outreach & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents/guardians, local leaders, civic and faith-based organizations, and service providers in target areas (especially Scott County, Madison County, and Hinds County).
  • Represent SR1 at public forums, school fairs, cultural events, and neighborhood meetings to elevate visibility and trust.
  • Organize and lead grassroots campaigns such as door-to-door canvassing, community presentations, and pop-up outreach events.

Digital Tools & CRM Development

  • Utilize and provide input in designing a Community Relationship Management (CRM) system to track family engagement, automate follow-ups, and manage outreach data.
  • Ensure digital tools are integrated with SR1's broader communication and enrollment systems.
  • Analyze engagement trends through CRM dashboards and adjust strategy based on real-time data.

Marketing & Communications

  • Oversee development of multilingual and culturally appropriate outreach materials, including brochures, flyers, social media content, and videos.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on public awareness campaigns related to student recruitment, program enrollment, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Monitor campaign performance and continuously refine messaging based on data and community feedback.

Cross-Program Coordination

  • Ensure alignment between SR1 CPSA’s academic year and C.O.O.L.™ Zone offerings to enable seamless transitions for families across programs.
  • Coordinate communication of program updates, events, and new initiatives across all departments.

Team Management & Collaboration

  • Supervise a team of outreach coordinators, enrollment associates, and part-time recruiters or volunteers.
  • Provide training on outreach strategies, family engagement, and inclusive practices.
  • Partner with SR1 leadership, communications, and data teams to ensure integrated operations and data consistency.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, marketing, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in enrollment, admissions, family engagement, or community outreach.
  • Proven track record of achieving enrollment or engagement goals in a nonprofit, educational, or community-based setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with cultural humility and cross-cultural fluency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar) for outreach and enrollment tracking.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in education, nonprofit leadership, public relations, or a related field.
  • Bilingual or multilingual, with Spanish strongly preferred .
  • Knowledge of charter/public school enrollment systems and rural Mississippi communities.

Working Conditions and Travel

  • Frequent travel within Mississippi, with special focus on Scott County, Madison County, and Hinds County.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends for community events and outreach.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
