Job Description

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Estimator with deep expertise in custom residential homes . This role is responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for luxury and bespoke home projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of high-end residential building systems, finishes, and market pricing, and will be instrumental in supporting preconstruction efforts and client proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the estimating process for custom home projects from concept through final bid.
  • Review architectural plans, engineering drawings, and specifications to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for all trades and scopes.
  • Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring scope alignment and competitive pricing.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, project managers, and clients to clarify project requirements and design intent.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive bid packages, budgets, and value engineering options.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of luxury materials, finishes, and construction techniques.
  • Track historical cost data and update unit pricing databases regularly.
  • Participate in client meetings and preconstruction planning sessions.
  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvements and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in residential estimating, with a focus on custom or luxury homes.
  • Strong understanding of high-end residential construction methods, materials, and finishes.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend, ProEst, Sage, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with digital take-off tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
