Job Title: VDC Engineer

Overview:

We are seeking a cross-functional technology leader to join our team as a VDC Engineer. This role is focused on optimizing construction workflows through the strategic use of digital tools, data analytics, and user training. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between field operations, preconstruction, and corporate strategy—driving innovation, efficiency, and adoption of construction technologies across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Management & Support

• Lead day-to-day administration and support of construction technology platforms (e.g., Procore, DocuSign, Egnyte, Bluebeam).
• Provide just-in-time training and ongoing support for internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage user access, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless integration across platforms.

Data & Reporting

• Develop and maintain project dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI or QuickBase.
• Train users on data visualization tools and incorporate feedback to improve reporting systems.
• Work toward automating real-time reporting to reduce manual data entry.

Training & Enablement

• Maintain and evolve the internal training center based on changing technologies and processes.
• Deliver targeted training sessions for various roles including subcontractors, owners, architects, and internal staff.
• Support onboarding of new hires with technology orientation and setup.

Process Improvement & Innovation

• Collaborate with field and preconstruction teams to identify pain points and propose technology-driven solutions.
• Participate in task forces and initiatives aimed at improving construction workflows.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies such as drones, AR/VR, robotics, and AI/ML tools.

Preconstruction Support

• Assist with project setup and documentation during preconstruction phases.
• Lead initiatives to expand technology use in preconstruction, including bidding tools and document management.
• Provide training and support tailored to preconstruction staff needs.

Operations Support

• Offer temporary project engineering support for under-resourced projects.
• Manage cost code standards and advise teams on budgeting processes.
• Conduct site visits and check-ins to ensure technology needs are being met.

Cross-Department Collaboration

• Support departments such as Quality, Safety, Planning, Warranty, and VDC with technology integration.
• Stay informed on feedback from owners, designers, and trade partners to improve user experience.
• Mentor junior staff and promote best practices across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Procore Certification.
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or QuickBase.
• Strong communication and training skills.
