Job Description

Job Role: Senior Agile Program Manager

Position Type: Contract-To-Hire (1 year, with a potential for extension or conversion)

  • Location: KC Area and onsite 2/3 days a week until one is acclimated and then this will shift to coming onsite whenever you want/feel the need to or are requested to.

The Senior Agile Program Manager is responsible for directing the strategy, planning, and execution of enterprise-scale Agile programs that span multiple business units, platforms, or value streams. This role requires extensive experience with scaled Agile frameworks, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a strong ability to influence change across complex organizational structures.

Acting as a champion of continuous improvement and enterprise agility, the Senior Agile Program Manager partners with leadership and technology stakeholders to ensure large initiatives are aligned with enterprise objectives, delivered effectively, and governed according to EPMO best practices. This role is also a key contributor to Agile transformation initiatives, helping elevate Agile maturity across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee enterprise-wide Agile programs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, funding models, and portfolio priorities.
  • Facilitate key program-level ceremonies and governance checkpoints including PI Planning, Program Syncs, Inspect & Adapt, and Executive Reviews.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and Agile delivery partner to executive leadership, Product Management, and Business Owners.
  • Drive Agile program governance, including dependency management, risk mitigation, compliance, and outcome tracking.
  • Monitor and report on program health, performance, and value delivery using quantitative metrics and qualitative insights.
  • Coach and mentor program-level roles (e.g., Scrum Masters, Product Owners, RTEs) and actively contribute to Agile maturity and organizational change management efforts.
  • Partner with Lean Portfolio Management to ensure resource alignment, funding flow, and capacity planning across multiple programs or ARTs.

Management Responsibilities

This position does not have direct reports but may coach and mentor others.

Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field – OR - equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in Agile delivery roles, including 4+ years in program or enterprise-level Agile leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in at least one scaled Agile framework (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale) with proven experience managing cross-functional Agile initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise or mission-critical programs in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to influence across all levels of the organization, from team leads to C-suite executives.
  • Deep systems thinking and comfort with ambiguity and scale.
  • Passion for Agile values, servant leadership, and organizational transformation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), SAFe Agilist (SA), or equivalent Agile certifications
  • Experience managing complex data platform initiatives
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., government, insurance, healthcare)

Systems & Technology Requirements

Microsoft Office Suite/365, Slack, Snowflake, iSite, ThoughtSpot and experience with advanced knowledge using agile tools such as Targetprocess, Jira, Mural, etc.
